Experienced gardeners never throw away or burn fallen leaves, because they can be used to make compost.
We tell you how to make compost from fallen leaves.
How to Make Compost from Leaves
We put fallen leaves into the composter, alternating them with layers of soil 5-10 centimeters thick.
If the leaves and soil are dry, water them. You can add mown grass, this will speed up the ripening.
You can also add soft tops, seedless weeds, and kitchen waste of plant origin.
To smooth out the acidic reaction, sprinkle the layers with dolomite flour, chalk, wood ash or slaked lime.
To speed up the ripening process, use EM preparations. You can also water the compost with a solution of nitrogen fertilizer (ammonium nitrate, urea).
