Why do this?
It's not even about the food they may require.
When frost sets in, dried leaves will become a favorable environment for the development of diseases.
The foliage should be cut as close to the stem as possible.
This can be done in several stages as the frosts intensify. In this case, you need to start from the base of the shoots and finish with the top.
It is recommended to burn the collected leaves and then treat them with a fungicide.
This procedure can be ignored only if the bush overwinters without shelter and there are no signs of disease development.
