In autumn, currants need to be pruned, fed and treated against diseases and pests.
We will tell you how to carry out these procedures correctly.
What to do with currants in autumn
First, you need to clear the tree trunk circles of old mulch and fallen leaves.
Then we carry out pruning. Only branches older than 4 years can be pruned. Also, dried, damaged and diseased branches should be removed.
After pruning, currants must be watered and fed.
Phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are used for autumn feeding.
For example, you can add superphosphate (30-40 grams per square meter) and potassium sulfate (20 grams per square meter).
As for treatment against diseases and pests, it is recommended to use copper-containing preparations (against diseases) and “Aktara” (against pests).
