Proper care of raspberries in the fall allows you to prepare the berry bush for the winter cold and fruiting in the new season.
Just a few mistakes and you can't count on a harvest.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist, agronomist, landscape designer, told how to prepare raspberries for winter.
When to start
We focus not on the date, but on the air temperature. By this time, the thermometer should already be stable at zero.
Where to start
1. We remove the remains of vegetation, fallen leaves, branches, etc. We carry out pruning.
2. In dry weather, it is necessary to carry out pest control. Bordeaux mixture (5%) or industrial preparations Aktara, Allegro or similar are used.
3. Before the onset of frost, it is necessary to water at the rate of 2-3 buckets of water per 1 square meter of soil.
4. Of the mineral fertilizers, you can add potassium sulfate (1 teaspoon per square meter), zinc sulfate (3 g per the same area), and manganese sulfate (5 g).
Then the soil is mulched, the berry bush is covered, and if necessary, the bushes are bent to the ground at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
These tips will help raspberry bushes survive the winter without any complications and produce a rich harvest of berries in the new season.
