Strawberry lovers know very well that in winter the crop needs suitable shelter.

However, you need to choose the most worthy option.

Some types of shelters make the soil too acidic. Peat has this feature. Spruce branches and straw are good in all respects, but they have one drawback: they can become bait for rodents.

So what method would be ideal for strawberries?

Experienced gardeners recommend choosing between film and agrofibre. The second option is the best, as it will be able to cope with all the tasks assigned to it.

Film would also be a good option, but there is one caveat: the strawberries risk rotting.

First, it is worth weeding the strawberries properly, removing all the weeds from the bed. After that, we buy agrofibre, the density of which is 30 grams per square meter.

It is best to use two layers of covering material. Then make several holes for air and secure the agrofibre well.

If it suddenly gets warm in winter, you will need to ventilate the strawberries.
