Snails are familiar to summer residents as gluttons that eat leaves and fruits of plants.

As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, these pests mainly feast on cabbage, spinach, lettuce, peas, pumpkin, squash and potato tops.

Cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, wild strawberries, and many flowers do not go unnoticed.

Seedlings and adult plants, crops in open ground and in greenhouses suffer equally from these voracious creatures.

There are many ways to combat pests in the garden. Among the most common are the following:

  • crushed eggshells;
  • wood ash;
  • mustard powder;
  • beer traps;
  • special preparations.

Today we will introduce you to another method that, as experienced gardeners claim, prevents snails from appearing on the site.

Its action is based on the intolerance of gastropods to certain odors, primarily sharp and spicy ones.

These are the aromas that garlic, rosemary, sage, thyme, marjoram, lavender, bay leaf, dill, parsley and hot pepper emit.

Plant these plants along the beds, in flower beds or between vegetable crops. This way you will protect your garden and vegetable patch from snails, and also harvest aromatic herbs, beautiful flowers or hot peppers.
