Soon there will be a need to cover strawberries for the winter so that the crop survives the cold and can provide us with a harvest of berries.
There are many options, but each has a different degree of effectiveness.
How to cover strawberries for the winter
First of all, it is worth waiting for real frosts: when the temperature is below zero, you can safely begin the procedure. We must weed and remove leaves that look dry and lifeless.
Afterwards, you need to use a layer of prepared humus. You can also use compost. The layer should be several centimeters.
Next, it is recommended to take agrofibre as a material for covering strawberries. The optimal density is 40 g / square meter.
Experienced gardeners do not recommend using film, as it is noticeably inferior to agrofibre.
All that remains is to cover the beds with spruce branches.
Thanks to this technique, strawberries can easily survive even severe frosts.
