Why you shouldn't throw away tomato stepchildren: experienced gardeners' hearts clench at the sight of this scene

The process of pinching out tomato shoots is in full swing. In July, it is recommended to carry out this procedure every 3-4 days, while weekend gardeners have no choice but to visit their beds once a week.

During this time, the stepsons have time to grow big and “fat”.

Those gardeners who do not know what to do with them next, simply send the side shoots into garbage bags, while their more savvy comrades do not agree to part with them under any circumstances, which is not surprising, because the shoots are literally filled with hormones, potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and other elements. All of them are necessary for plant growth.

Also, because they are still so young, stepchildren are usually not a source of any infection.

All of the above means that tomato stems can (and should) be used to prepare fermentation liquid, which should be added to cucumbers and other plants that are not “relatives” of the nightshade family.

In a similar way, you can prepare a fermentation solution for tomatoes and other nightshades from the side shoots or lower leaves of cucumbers – what is remarkable is that it will take you only 3-4 days to prepare it in a greenhouse.

There is another option for how to use tomato shoots usefully - make herbal vinegar from them.

Find a kombucha, vinegar mother and put it all in a fermenter - in a week the herbal vinegar will be ready. Before use it should be diluted in a ratio of 1 to 10.
