Is it true that seedlings in containers can be planted whenever you like: 90% of gardeners do not know the correct answer

If you have been involved in gardening for a long time, you probably know that previously seedlings were sold exclusively with an open root system.

In nurseries, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , they were dug up strictly in early spring or late autumn, after which they fell into the hands of summer residents.

If we talk about a modern orchard, it can be planted throughout the warm season: this opportunity has arisen due to the fact that most seedlings are currently sold in containers, which means that their root system is in a closed state.

The survival rate of such seedlings (i.e. those with a closed root system) is approximately 100%, since when the plant is removed from the container, their roots remain virtually undamaged, which means that the plants do not experience transplant stress.

The main thing is not to forget to water the plants on time and in sufficient quantities so that their root system quickly gets used to the new soil.

Another important nuance that everyone who is planting a fruit tree seedling with a closed root system should know is that the planting hole must be prepared in advance.

Its depth and width should be 3-4 times larger than the size of the container.

Be sure to add a supply of nutrients in the form of fertilizers, as well as fertile soil, compost, peat or humus to the hole if you have to deal with heavy and clayey soil on the site.

If the plant is forced to grow in sandy soil, a layer of clay must be arranged in the planting hole, and the hole itself must be one meter deep. To retain moisture, it is allowed to add hydrogel, agroperlite or vermiculite to the hole.
