In order for an orchid to bloom profusely and for a long time, it needs to be cared for in a certain way.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about two common mistakes in orchid care that prevent flowering.

Why the orchid does not bloom

Firstly, the reason may be unsuitable soil. In the wild, orchids grow on trees, so they need air-permeable soil.

If the roots don't get oxygen, the flower will wither. The lighter the soil, the better.

Under no circumstances should you use heavy soil mixtures or compact the soil when planting.

The best option for beginners is to purchase a ready-made soil mixture for orchids in a specialized store.

Also, an orchid can wither due to improper watering. Excessive moisture provokes root rot.
