If you don’t want the above-ground part of the garlic to turn yellow and the bulbs to become small, make sure to apply fertilizer in a timely manner.

The right time for applying fertilizer comes in June, when the feathers stop growing, the head begins to develop vigorously, and arrows form on winter varieties.
How to feed garlic
As you know, when garlic starts growing feathers, it needs nitrogen – it helps in growing leaves. Nitrogen helps to form a strong above-ground part, which, in turn, helps the bulbs grow large.
Nitrogen is contained in a solution prepared by mixing a tablespoon of ammonium nitrate in a bucket of water. The preparation can be replaced with urea. The resulting amount is enough to treat one "square", after which the plants need to be watered.
But in order to get strong and large garlic cloves, make sure that the crop has enough phosphorus and potassium.
Both of these elements can be found in monopotassium phosphate. To prepare a solution, use a tablespoon of granules and 10 liters of water.
