Tomatoes often suffer from late blight, a disease that initially makes the fruit hard and then softens it.
Moreover, the harmful infection can persist in the plant remains of the crop.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about how to protect yourself from this scourge, including with the help of kefir.
To prevent the enemy from appearing, tomatoes are sprayed with copper-containing substances during cold and rainy summers.
Spray once every two weeks: first the seedlings, then before planting them in open ground, and the last time 2 weeks after planting.
But if this has not been done and you notice the first signs of late blight, treat the bushes with a 10% solution of table salt.
This method promotes the formation of a protective film on the fruit, which will prevent the penetration of the fungus, the causative agent of the disease.
As for kefir, if it is fresh, it will provide protection against late blight for a long period.
This dairy product should be mixed in a bucket of water in the proportion of 1 liter of kefir to 5-7 liters of water.
We spray tomatoes with this mixture 2 weeks after planting the seedlings in a permanent place.
After that, we will treat our plants with the kefir solution every week.
Earlier we talked about what mineral fertilizers should be used to feed tomatoes during flowering.
