All summer residents who grow cherries, cherries or apricots on their plots are afraid of the cherry or cherry fly, since this pest can significantly spoil the harvest that these trees produce.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, spoke about ways to combat the parasite.

Chemicals

To combat cherry flies, you can use Iskra, Aktara, Karate, Molniya and other products specially created for this purpose.

Treatments are allowed to be carried out before flowering and after fruiting, when the entire harvest has already been collected.

Fly traps

To prepare a deadly trap for the pest, you will need a container that you fill with a sweet drink (compote, kvass, etc.) and hang it on a tree.

The pleasant aroma will attract flies, after which they will drown in the liquid. The only downside is that you will have to change the bottles with bait quite often, every 2-3 days.

Pine infusion

Since the smell of pine needles acts as a repellent to cherry flies, you can prepare a concentrated pine needle infusion and spray it on the plantings.

Fill a suitable container with spruce or pine needles, add water and boil for 30 minutes. Wait until the decoction cools down and use it for spraying.

Earlier we told you how to grow lettuce in your garden so that the leaves don’t taste bitter.
