Many gardeners are familiar with the situation when the first radish in the greenhouse grows into tops, and not into roots.

Why this happens and what to do about it, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer.

Why does radish grow in the greenhouse in the tops and not in the roots?

The first reason is dense and heavy soil in the greenhouse after winter. Radish needs light, loose soil.

Before planting, the soil should be dug up thoroughly. Sowing green manure crops also helps improve the quality of the soil.

Secondly, the problem may be in the excess of nitrogen fertilizers, which promote the growth of greenery.
