An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained why these crops cannot be grown next to each other.
Why you can't plant watermelons and melons near cucumbers
Since all these crops belong to the pumpkin family, they have the same pests and diseases.
Also, when planted in neighboring beds, they will compete for food and cross-pollinate.
Such a neighborhood is strictly prohibited in a greenhouse; it is undesirable in open ground.
Also, cucumbers cannot be planted next to pumpkins, squash and pattypan squash.
Favorable neighbors for cucumbers are legumes, onions, cabbage, beets, celery, lettuce, and dill.
