In order for peonies to grow well and bloom profusely, it is necessary to choose the right location for the flowerbed.
How to do this is explained by the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Where to plant peonies
The place should be open and sunny, there should be no trees or tall bushes nearby.
Peonies should not be planted in areas where snow is blown away in winter and the soil is exposed, for example, next to buildings. If you plant them in such a place, the future buds will freeze.
As for soil quality, peonies will not grow in heavy clay soil, sand or peat.
The area must be properly prepared: add humus, loam, and if the soil is clayey, sand.
It is also necessary to take into account that peonies like to grow on a small elevation (15-20 centimeters). The distance between bushes should be at least a meter.
As for planting dates, peonies should be planted and replanted either in the spring or in late August – early September.
Earlier, the expert explained why day and night temperatures should be alternated when growing seedlings.
