Recently, the German method of planting cucumbers has become popular among summer residents.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, told us how German farmers plant cucumbers.
German way of planting cucumbers
We dig a hole one and a half shovel blades deep and one and a half meters in diameter.
We put mown grass, tree leaves and dry branches into the hole, compact them, fill them with water and cover them with a layer of soil.
We plant cucumbers in a circle at intervals of 40-50 cm. We will get about 8 seedlings.
We drive in stakes next to the bushes. After about 3 weeks, we put a long stick or pipe in the middle of the hole, make fastenings for the twine at the top and tie up the cucumbers.
Earlier, the expert told which insects can harm seedlings.
