Magnesium deficiency in plants occurs when they have used up all the small reserves of this element that are present in the soil.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , this phenomenon is observed all the time and there is nothing scary about it.
How does magnesium deficiency manifest itself in plants?
When there is a magnesium deficiency, plants look generally healthy, the shape of the leaves is not disturbed, and the veins on the leaves have a normal color.
At the same time, spots appear on the leaves, and they do this from the bottom up, that is, they start from the lower leaves and gradually rise to the top.
The spots are lighter in color and are located between the veins of the leaf; the leaf gradually turns yellow, but does not fall off or dry out.
How to Cure Magnesium Deficiency in Plants
Magnesium deficiency can be easily compensated by spraying or watering plants with a solution of magnesium sulfate.
To prepare it, you need to mix 1 gram of magnesium sulfate with a liter of water.
It is recommended to apply the solution twice – through the soil and through the leaves.
Magnesia can also be used. If its concentration is 250 mg per 1 ml, to prepare a solution for irrigation, it is necessary to mix 10 ml of magnesia with a liter of water, and for spraying - 5 ml per the same volume of water.
