It depends on the size of the bulbs. The larger they are, the greater the interval should be.
Depending on the variety, the distance between onion sets varies between 5-10 centimeters.
According to spring planting technology, you need to proceed as follows.
We level the bed, making shallow furrows at intervals of 15 centimeters.
We moisten, sprinkle with ash and sand. We plant the onion, deepening it completely, and pour 2 cm of soil on top.
In autumn, a different planting scheme is used: the distance between the bulbs should be at least 10 cm.
