Experienced gardeners strongly recommend picking out elongated tomato seedlings with deepening.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , this can be done in two ways.
The method with cups
In order to deepen the elongated seedlings, you can use tall cups. Deepening should be done almost to the cotyledons.
The disadvantages of this method include the possibility of moisture stagnation in the upper part of the substrate, which can lead to rotting of the stem.
Turning into a "half-ring"
From the name of the method it becomes clear that the elongated stem of the seedling should be twisted into a “half-ring”.
Important: before you start picking, you should remove the cotyledon leaves and let the seedlings rest for a while so that they soften slightly and can easily curl up.
After deepening, do not forget to fix the seedling with a stick or toothpick.
At the end of the “procedure”, treat the plant with anti-stress preparations – this will make it easier for it to adapt to the new growing conditions.
