Whether the melons will grow large and sweet depends, among other things, on the planting location.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us where in the garden you should plant melons.

Where to plant melons

Melons love light loamy soils and sun, and the area should also be protected from drafts.

The soil should be rich in organic matter. It should be added in advance, in late autumn.

When digging, add three to four kilograms of humus and a little river sand per square meter.

In the spring, the area is dug up again with the addition of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers (25 grams of potassium salt and 35 grams of superphosphate per square meter).

After some time, nitrogen fertilizers are added (20-25 grams per square meter).

If you didn't add organic matter in the fall, you can do it in the spring. The main thing is that the bed is ready a week before planting the seedlings.

Earlier, the expert told how to use soda and salt at the dacha.
