Experienced gardeners know that there should be no dill in a carrot bed.

Why you shouldn’t plant these plants together is explained by the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

Why you can't plant carrots and dill together

Both crops belong to the Umbelliferae family and have common diseases and pests.

An infection that appears on carrots can destroy dill, and vice versa.

Secondly, the rapidly growing dill prevents the growth of carrots, which makes them small.

The distance between the dill bed and the carrot bed should be at least 30 cm, the more the better.

It is also recommended to plant onions or garlic between carrots and dill.

If you can't avoid growing them together, choose the most compatible varieties.

Dill should be small, early harvest, carrots – large, late ripening.

Earlier, the expert told which plants will protect the area from mice.
