Growing an oak tree from an acorn is a truly exciting activity that can become a lifelong endeavor.

To ensure that your efforts are not wasted, listen to the advice of the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , who spoke about the main stages of growing an oak from an acorn.

Stratification

To stratify oak seeds, place the acorns in a bag with wet sand or soil and store them in the refrigerator at a temperature of 4-6 degrees for 1-3 months.

Open the bag periodically to make sure the sand or soil is moist.

Landing

Choose a suitable location for the oak tree, where there will be enough sunlight (at worst, partial shade).

If you plant an oak tree in a pot, place it on a window. Before planting, it is recommended to loosen the soil and lay a drainage layer to prevent water stagnation.

Plant the acorn at a depth of 5-7 cm and cover it with soil. The first sprouts should be expected in a few months after planting.

Oak tree care

Water the young oak regularly, especially on hot days. Use special fertilizers for feeding, containing nitrogen and other necessary nutrients.

You will also need to monitor the condition of the soil around the oak tree and get rid of weeds as they appear.

Earlier we talked about how to water orchids for lush flowering.
