The question of when it is better to plant fruit tree seedlings – in spring or autumn – is a subject of debate among gardeners.
Both options, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , have their advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with, it is worth noting that all nurseries are engaged in cuttings and growing seedlings during the spring and summer.
Therefore, in the fall, young seedlings are put up for sale, which will certainly take root well and, if planted correctly, will be able to easily survive the winter.
In the spring, on the contrary, plants that were not sold at the end of the season and were put into storage usually go on sale.
However, for summer residents who live in regions with very cold winters, it is recommended to plant seedlings in the spring.
In this case, the plants will have enough time to take root and adapt.
In regions with very hot climates, where the soil may dry out during the season, autumn planting of tree and shrub seedlings is recommended.
