In spring, all plants, especially perennial and fruit crops, need fertilizing.
The reason is not only that the plant needs to restore its strength after wintering, but also that nutrients are washed out of the soil with melt water.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how in such a case you can feed currants.
Harvest feeding of currants
1. You can start adding fertilizers after the soil in the garden warms up to +10 degrees Celsius.
Before this time, adding additives makes absolutely no sense, because the root system will not be able to absorb and assimilate them.
2. Before fertilizing, it is necessary to loosen the soil under the bushes, and then you can add additives with a high nitrogen content.
3. The second feeding is carried out during flowering, and the third after harvesting.
What to feed
The first feeding is usually carried out using nitroammophoska (10 g per bush).
Urea or ammonium nitrate is also used (1 tablespoon per liter of water per bush).
The second feeding is carried out using phosphorus-potassium (mineral) fertilizers (10 g of potassium sulfate per liter of water per bush).
After harvesting, wood ash, manure or humus or chicken manure are added. But organic matter is added only in the form of an infusion.
