Planting certain crops next to a vineyard can result in loss of harvest.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us which plants are bad neighbors for grapes.

What not to plant near a vineyard

Potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, corn, celery, sunflowers, horseradish, parsley, leeks and chives have a negative effect on grapes.

Favorable neighbors for grapes are legumes, cucumbers, cauliflower, beets, and radishes.

Flowers that should not be planted near a vineyard include marigolds, asters, primroses and gypsophila.
