Many gardeners and vegetable growers face a problem - they do not remember where and what they planted, even if they took notes and made a site plan.

To tidy up the beds, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises using special labels or tags.

Good labels should be bright, noticeable and durable, and they can be made from the following materials.

Cardboard tags

Such labels are the simplest and cheapest, but not very reliable. They quickly deteriorate and rot, which makes it difficult to identify the plants planted.

Plastic tags

Probably the most common type. They are more durable and can be used multiple times. To make plastic tags, you can use clear plastic cups or containers - just cut strips 6-7 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide and sharpen one end so that they can be inserted into the soil. You can write on the tags with a permanent marker or pencil.

Metal tags

Metal is a very durable option. You can use tin cans from drinks to make signs. It is better to emboss the text on such tags, since a marker and pencil do not stick to a metal surface. However, there is a drawback - the text applied in this way is difficult to read. Such tags are well suited for marking adult trees and seedlings. They can be attached to branches using thin wire.

Wooden tags

They are suitable for those who care about the environment, because they do not pollute the soil. To make tags, you can use ice cream sticks or tea or coffee stirrers. The inscriptions are applied with a pen, felt-tip pen, pencil or marker. These tags are difficult to see on the garden beds, but are clearly visible on seedlings and indoor plants.

Polyethylene tags

Such signs are made, for example, from polyethylene milk bags, cutting them into strips. They are good as a temporary solution for marking individual plants.

Earlier, the expert told what to do if ants appeared on the site.
