If you love peaches, you can grow a real peach tree in your garden from a seed!

As ADVICE.NEWS reports, it will take a lot of time, but it is worth it - these fruits have an amazing taste and contain many vitamins.

Here's how to germinate and grow a full-sized tree from a hole.

Find the right peach

Select a ripe, fresh peach to pit. Make sure it is a variety suitable for your climate.

Remove the bone

Cut the peach and carefully remove the pit from the center. Clean the pit from the remaining fruit pulp.

Dry the bone

Allow the pit to air dry for a day or two. This helps prevent mold from forming in the next steps.

Open the bone

Carefully open the pit using, for example, pliers. Be careful not to damage the seed inside.

Extract the seed

Remove the almond-shaped seed from the cracked pit. This is the part that will become your peach tree.

Stratification (seed cooling)

Place the seeds in a plastic bag or container with slightly damp peat moss or a paper towel. Seal the bag or container and refrigerate for about 8-10 weeks. This will simulate winter conditions and prepare the seeds for germination.

Prepare the planting pot

Fill a small pot with good quality soil. Make a hole about 2.5 cm deep in the center.

Plant a seed

Place the cooled seed in the hole and cover it with soil. Lightly water the soil.

Provide proper conditions

Place the pot in a warm, sunny location. Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering.

Germination and transplantation

In a few weeks the seed should germinate.

Once it has a few leaves and is a few cm tall, you can transplant it into a larger pot or directly into the garden.

Street plantings

When transplanting into open ground, choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Place several trees at a distance of about 4.5-6 m from each other.

Peach Tree Care

Water the tree regularly, especially during dry periods.

Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring. Prune the tree as needed to shape its crown.

Be patient

It may take several years before your tree produces peaches, but the joy of growing your own peach tree is worth the wait!
