How to Prepare Houseplants for Spring: What Flowers Need Besides Fertilizer After a Long Hibernation

02.02.2024 22:28

Winter is ending, and it’s time for gardeners to think about preparing their greenhouses to welcome the spring warmth and bright sun.

As practice shows, after a long period of hibernation, you cannot limit yourself to just feeding and watering.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to care for indoor plants in the spring.

Sunlight

You can't immediately leave the plants standing in the sun for days. Not all flowers like it, and you'll also need to shade the flowers for the first time. Awakening is a gradual process.

Temperature

Sharp temperature fluctuations should not be allowed. Therefore, flowers should not be abruptly moved to open windows or balconies.

Haircut

It is necessary to tidy up the vegetation and get rid of wilted or dry leaves.

Instead of wasting energy on a dying sprout, after its removal the flower can direct its energy to growth and development.

Transfer

The best time for transplantation is, of course, spring.

Repotting involves replacing the soil, and sometimes the pot, if the plant has grown and its roots require free space.

Earlier we talked about whether it is possible to save an orchid without roots.
