One of the fertilizers that can be made from household waste is an infusion or decoction of onion peel.
Florists and gardeners use it everywhere. But can this recipe be used when growing orchids?
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told whether it is possible to use this effective fertilizer for orchids.
What are the benefits of the supplement?
Onion peel contains calcium, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium, which are equally useful for all plants – crops and weeds.
Another important point is that onion peel fertilizer protects plants from bacteria and fungi.
How to use
Peel a couple of large onions and place the husks in boiled water (0.5 l).
At the same time, 5 tablespoons of rice should be soaked in one liter of water at room temperature.
When the onion peel infusion has cooled, you need to strain both compositions and mix them.
The infusion is poured into a container with a spray bottle and used to spray the leaves twice a month before watering the flowers.
