Many people strive to decorate not only their home, but also their plot with flowers not only in flower beds, but also in hanging pots and vases.

True, this solution has a significant drawback - in hot and dry weather, the plants dry out. Despite the fact that it is January outside and you are unlikely to encounter this problem in the near future, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh decided to share some recommendations that will help avoid troubles in the future.

Perhaps the most obvious solution is a drip irrigation system with a timer, which allows you to water plants at a certain time.

This will allow the flowers to stay alive even in conditions of extreme heat and lack of moisture.

If summer residents do not have the opportunity to use technical methods of watering, they can plant flowers not in standard containers, but in large pots, where the earth ball retains enough water. The roots of the plants will draw moisture from the lower layers of the soil and feed the upper part with it.

But this option also has a downside - filling the pots with a large volume of soil mixture will require expenses for preparing or purchasing soil. In addition, the containers themselves are not cheap.

Therefore, you can choose a different route and mulch plants in small pots.

Various natural materials can be used as mulch, such as straw, pine needles, seed husks, sphagnum moss and others.

Finally, we will share another effective way to retain moisture – the use of moisture-retaining components such as agroperlite, vermiculite or hydrogel.

These additives actively absorb moisture, retain it in the root zone and release it to plants as needed.

Earlier, the expert told how to feed indoor plants.
