Top 5 varieties of fleshy tomatoes: they have proven themselves excellent in 2023

Of all the variety of tomato varieties, the large and juicy so-called “fleshy” varieties stand out in particular.

These tomatoes are ideal for salads, they do not leak juice and retain their shape after cutting. They also make excellent tomato juices and winter preserves.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh has compiled a list of those very fleshy varieties that received good reviews from vegetable growers last year and are recommended for planting this year.

"Bull's Heart"

The tomato, so beloved by many, is constantly being improved by breeders. Today, several varieties of the new "Bull's Heart" can be found on sale, distinguished by pink, red and yellow colors.

The bushes of this variety reach a height of more than one and a half meters. The fruits are heart-shaped and weigh from 350 to 450 grams, although heavier specimens are also found. The variety is considered early-ripening.

"Pink Honey"

"Pink Honey" is a wonderful variety of tomatoes with a delicious taste, which is suitable for making salads.

It also has good shelf life. The bushes are low, about 60-70 cm in height. The fruits weigh about 200 grams, have a round shape with slight ribbing. Suitable for growing in northern regions. The ripening time is average.

"Goose Egg"

Tomato "Goose Egg" is an indeterminate variety bred in Siberia. It belongs to the cluster varieties.

Tall and powerful bushes are distinguished by high productivity. Ripening periods are average, and the fruits can be recognized by their characteristic egg-shaped form and weight, which is about 300 grams. They have a very pleasant dessert taste without sourness.

"Heavyweight of Siberia"

We are talking about an early ripening variety with large fruits of a deep pink color, having a flattened heart shape and weighing up to 500 grams.

Produces abundant harvests in open ground conditions. Bushes are low (about 60 cm on average), compact.

"Bear's Paw"

A mid-season tomato variety. Belongs to cluster varieties.

The bushes are tall (can reach 1.7 meters), and the fruits are flat-round, bright red, fleshy and sweet in taste. Their weight can reach 800 grams.
