Whether tomatoes will produce a good harvest depends largely on the variety that was planted.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, talks about new varieties of tomatoes that are worth planting as seedlings this year.
"Athanasius F1"
An early-ripening indeterminate hybrid intended for greenhouses.
Only commercial fruits in protected soil give about 16 kilograms per square meter. Fruits are flat-round, average weight is 200 grams.
"Raspberry Seal"
Indeterminate, mid-season, high-yielding variety (16 kg per sq. m in open ground).
The fruits are elongated and heart-shaped, weighing 300-600 grams. High sugar content.
"Orange Ball F1"
Early maturing determinate hybrid for growing in protected ground.
With a bush height of about 50-70 centimeters, the commercial yield exceeds 12 kg per square meter. The fruits are round, weighing about 200 grams.
"Feudal F1"
Mid-season determinate high-yielding hybrid for greenhouses.
In protected soil it produces 20 kg of fruit per square meter, in open soil – 16 kg. The fruits are flat-round and weigh 250-400 grams.
"Pink Sambol"
Mid-early indeterminate large-fruited variety. Productivity – 17 kg per sq. m.
The fruits are round, slightly compressed at the poles. Weight – from 600 to 800 grams.
