Growing potatoes requires knowing a few tricks – if you want to achieve an impressive harvest, of course.
The expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared with us the secrets of experienced gardeners.
First, let us remind you that before storing the seed material, it is worth sorting it out. Leave only clean, visually healthy tubers of medium size, having dried them beforehand and slightly “greened” them in the sun.
Around the beginning of May (depending on the climate zone), potatoes can be taken out of the cellar and disinfected. The procedure should be done a few days before the expected planting.
For this purpose, you will need a rich pink solution of potassium permanganate, into which you should dip the tubers for about 20 minutes.
To achieve the best effect, add a teaspoon of ammonium nitrate and a glass of ash to the potassium permanganate (the proportions are given for 1 bucket).
After soaking, place the potatoes in 1-2 layers in boxes and take them to a room with a temperature of 12-15 degrees and sources of daylight.
On the day of planting, you need to spray the tubers with a growth stimulant, for example, a saturated solution of sodium humate.
To prepare it, dilute 2 tablespoons of concentrate in 3 liters of water and use the resulting liquid for spraying.
When planting, do not forget to throw a mixture of onion peel, ground eggshells and azophoska into the holes.
