Growing arugula in an apartment is no more difficult than in open ground.

At the same time, the taste of greens grown at home, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , is no different from that which grows in the garden.

If you want to quickly collect the first harvest for vitamin salads, you will have to act in accordance with the following rules.

Container for arugula

Wooden boxes, plastic containers or wide flower pots are suitable for growing arugula on a windowsill. No matter what container you choose, make sure it has drainage holes.

Soil for arugula

The simplest solution is to buy soil in a store. Universal soil or substrate intended for seedlings will do. The soil does not need to be processed, but drainage, the layer of which should be at least 2 cm, is mandatory.

Features of planting arugula

The first step you will need to take is to make even furrows in the soil about 0.5 cm deep, leaving a distance of 4 cm between them. Without cultivating, carefully spread the seeds at intervals of 2 cm.

Moisten the soil with warm water using a spray bottle and fill the furrows with soil without compacting it. Lightly moisten the soil again.

Cover the containers with film and place them in a shaded area for the seeds to germinate. After 5 days, when the sprouts appear, move the containers to the southern windowsill.

Remove the film daily to air the greenery. The soil should be moistened as it dries, again using a reliable assistant in the form of a spray bottle for this purpose.

Earlier we talked about what to put in the hole so that the cabbage looks like the picture.
