According to popular belief, aphids are among the top three “leaders” among greenhouse pests, second only to whiteflies and spider mites.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , this “parasite” quite rarely affects tomatoes, but is often found on peppers and cucumbers.

If you have firmly decided to eradicate the infection, first figure out the root cause of its appearance, which, no matter how trivial it may sound, is ants.

These insects are carriers of aphids, so to combat them it is necessary to use complex measures against both ants and aphids themselves.

How to get rid of ants

There are various baits to combat ants - one example is the fairly common "Bros" granules. You can also use folk remedies, such as red ground pepper, which is scattered in the greenhouse.

However, ants may return after 2-3 weeks, so this treatment must be repeated periodically.

How to get rid of aphids

In the fight against aphids, you will need biological preparations such as "Boveria" or "Fitoverm".

You can also use green soap or regular liquid soap, diluting 100 ml of soap in 10 liters of water and spraying the affected plants with the resulting solution. The soap solution forms a film on the leaves that prevents the pests from feeding, causing them to die.

Earlier, the expert told how to deal with whiteflies in a greenhouse.
