Contrary to popular belief, in rocky deserts you can find not only sand, but also so-called “living stones”.
As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, local residents gave this name to one of the most original succulents – lithops.
We won't argue - lithops can really be confused with pebbles due to their round shape and small size. These plants are often colored in the shade of the soil in which they are planted.
Besides these interesting facts, there are a few more things you should know about growing lithops.
The only suitable location for these plants is on the south side.
Although the upper temperature limit is quite high, these succulents will feel most comfortable at 22-25 degrees, while the lower limit is at 5-7 degrees.
In winter, lithops need a period of rest, to organize which you will need to stop watering and reduce the temperature to 12-15 degrees.
As for watering: in the spring and summer, lithops require watering twice a month, but try to refrain from spraying and sprinkling.
A few words about a suitable pot: its depth should be approximately 10 cm. As they grow, transplant your green pets into larger pots.
