Unfortunately, summer residents do not always manage to get the desired amount of fruit from their own beds - in particular, we are talking about tomatoes.
However, don’t lose heart: if you follow the advice of the expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , then you can easily double the tomato harvest.
To achieve what you want, you will need to use a planting method that involves placing two roots in one hole.
For planting using this method, i.e. two roots in one hole, it is better to use not determinate, but indeterminate varieties and hybrids.
It is indeterminate tomatoes, planted with two roots in one hole in open ground, that produce twice as much harvest per season as in a greenhouse.
Below you can see the technology. The seedlings are grown in the usual way.
But when transplanting seedlings to a permanent "place of residence", two plants are planted in each hole, which are carefully selected by size and degree of development. They must be identical, otherwise one plant will suppress the other.
Now comes the most interesting part – forming the bush. These tomatoes need to be grown with four stems on each root, like determinate varieties. This way you will have eight stems on two roots per hole, which will provide maximum nutrition.
After four brushes have formed and fully developed on the stem, the top is pinched.
Above the last brush, three leaves are left and the top is cut off. With this formation, each hole will have two or more times more brushes and tomatoes than with a normal planting.
Previously, we talked about which indoor plants should be placed in the bedroom to improve sleep and relieve stress.
