In nature, spathiphyllums have large dark green leaves and flowers that resemble sails in appearance.
The same results can be obtained at home by following simple rules, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer, who told us what needs to be done to grow a giant spathiphyllum.
First, eliminate the causes that may lead to the leaves becoming smaller.
The first is, of course, a lack of nutrition, namely nitrogen.
To satisfy the flower's needs for this element, you can use store-bought fertilizers, or you can use homemade ones, for example, a solution of a tablespoon of ammonia and a liter of water.
In addition, small leaves may be the result of a lack of light.
Try moving the pot with the spathiphyllum to another place that will, at the same time, be protected from direct sunlight.
And don’t forget to wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust: it “clogs” the pores of the leaves and prevents light from penetrating.
Finally, a few words about the pot. The plant does not need a spacious container, a flowerpot that is a couple of cm wider in diameter than the root system of the flower is enough.
