Anthurium, it must be admitted, is often grown as a houseplant because of its beautiful flowers and ease of care.
At the same time, its attractive appearance serves as an excellent cover for the negative properties inherent in this plant. The disadvantages of the flower were described by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Strong aroma
When in bloom, the anthurium produces such a strong smell that it can cause headaches and disrupt your sleep.
Poisonous juice
Since the flower belongs to the Araceae family, its juice, like many of its other “brothers”, contains calcium oxalate.
If liquid from the stems or leaves gets on the skin, redness and irritation cannot be avoided.
Allergic reaction
The pollen that appears during the flowering of anthurium is quite a strong allergen. This, in turn, can provoke coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose and shortness of breath.
Despite all of the above, there is no ban on keeping anthurium at home as such - the main thing is to be aware of the flower's "abilities" and be able to react quickly if you feel its negative impact on yourself.
Earlier, the expert listed the mistakes that many flower growers make when growing carnations.
