There is a group of plants called acidophiles, they grow much better in acidic soil.

For this reason, they should not be fertilized with ash due to its property of deoxidizing the soil. This category of plants includes rhododendrons, hydrangea, garden azalea, heather, ferns and lilies of the valley.

Sorrel and radish love acidic soil; it is also not recommended to sprinkle them with ash.
