In this regard, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared advice on how to choose high-quality cucumber seeds.
According to the expert, the place of purchase is not so important – it can be either an online outlet or an offline store.
But what really matters is the manufacturer – only proven agricultural firms are worthy of your attention.
Instead of being “led” by bright and colorful packaging, carefully study the description of the variety or hybrid.
Why is this important? At least because the planting location depends on it – for example, varietal cucumbers are mostly grown in open ground due to the fact that they are bee-pollinated, while hybrids do not require pollination by bees or other insects.
It would not hurt to familiarize yourself with the purpose of cucumbers - if you buy salad cucumber seeds, they cannot be used for canning and vice versa.
In addition, do not be lazy to find information about the number of seeds, expiration date, packaging date and year of harvest. Remember: in order to plant cucumbers in 2024, you need only 2023 seeds.
