Indoor geranium is an unpretentious plant and with minimal care is ready to bloom all year round.
But it happens that geraniums are also capricious. If pelargonium does not bloom, we can talk about gross errors of the florist.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, explained why geraniums do not bloom.
What does geranium need?
This plant does not need much. It is enough to provide lighting for 6-8 hours.
Make sure that the air temperature is not lower than 18-21 degrees Celsius.
The rest is the watering regime and air humidity of at least 60%.
What to do if geranium does not bloom
First, remember when the soil in the flowerpot was last changed – it may be depleted.
Secondly, perhaps the soil in the pot was not initially suitable for this plant.
Thirdly, geranium loves regular pruning.
Fourth, move the plant to a brighter location and avoid overwatering.
Fifthly, high air temperatures can interfere with the formation of buds.
How to wake up geranium
1. First, find the best place for the flower and leave it alone as soon as the first buds appear.
2. Pinch off the tops when the first buds appear so that all the energy goes into flowering, not growth.
3. If this does not help, leave 2-3 buds on the flower per branch, then transplant the geranium into open ground. But this option is only allowed at the end of spring.
Closer to autumn, the geranium can be transplanted into a new pot, new soil, and you can wait for the beginning of flowering.
