How to “Improve” Store-Bought Soil: The Secret to Creating the Perfect Soil for Seedlings

04.12.2023 11:15

There is nothing wrong with buying soil for seedlings in specialized stores.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises paying attention to the composition indicated on the packaging and giving preference to soil that already contains peat and fertilizers.

If you want to create ideal conditions for seedlings and grow strong seedlings, you will have to “conjure” a little with the purchased soil when you get home.

To prepare a fertile soil mixture, you will first need humus - one part soil to two parts humus.

Another necessary component is wood ash, which is needed to reduce acidity, because high-moor peat, on the contrary, makes the soil acidic.

The last, third component is needed to make the soil loose.

You can use free fine sand or perlite with vermiculite, but for money.

The resulting soil mixture is universal and suitable for growing any crops.
