Despite the fact that winter has already arrived, many summer residents are still tormented by doubts: is it worth covering raspberries in case of frost?

An expert from the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh helped to understand this issue.

According to the expert, in most cases this perennial shrub tolerates winter well without any shelter.

But if December, January or February are too harsh, there is a risk that the tops of the shoots will freeze.

Since the bulk of the harvest is formed in the middle and upper parts of the shoot, in such a situation you risk losing berries.

To avoid events developing according to an undesirable scenario for us, it is still worth collecting the shoots into bundles, bending them to the ground and securing them.

Use the snow that falls to the ground during a snowfall as cover for the raspberries.

That same snow cover will not allow the raspberries to freeze, even if there are severe frosts outside.
