In winter, gardeners rarely come to their dachas. After all, there is not much work to do in the off-season.
It is necessary to ensure that there is not a lot of snow on the tree branches, and also that the plants are not attacked by rodents.
However, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminded us of another important winter activity.
We are talking about sprinkling snow with a mixture of two agents. However, not all gardeners need to perform this procedure, but only those who planted garlic and onions before winter.
How to perform the procedure
Did you plant onions and garlic in the fall? During the first winter month, sprinkle the snow-covered beds with a mixture of dolomite flour and ash.
For every two volumes of dolomite there should be only one volume of unburned wood residue.
The procedure becomes mandatory if fertilizers were not applied in the fall.
Snow can be sprinkled not in December, but later. For example, closer to the beginning of the calendar spring.
When the white sediments begin to melt, the mixture of dolomite and ash will fall into the soil. As a result, garden crops will receive the compounds they need at the very beginning of the new summer cottage season.
