As is known, not only rhizomes but also seeds are used to propagate peony bushes. But is this option suitable for an amateur gardener?
The expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh gives a confident positive answer and shares some professional tricks.
So, the right time for sowing peony seeds is the end of August.
Before you begin the procedure, make sure the bed is fertile and free of weeds.
When this condition is met, you can begin to plant the seeds in the ground to a depth of 5-6 cm.
After this, cover the seeds with soil, water the plantings, and before the onset of frost, do not forget to cover with sawdust. Some gardeners use loose peat as mulch.
As you can see, there is nothing complicated about planting peonies from seeds.
However, if you decide to resort to this method, do not forget that you will have to wait quite a long time for shoots to appear: as much as 3-4 years. Full flowering of a perennial plant occurs even longer - after 6 years.
