About two months have passed since the summer residents harvested their carrots.
At the moment, orange root vegetables are located in cellars, basements and other premises.
But every gardener should understand: vegetables are unlikely to last until spring if they are stored incorrectly.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh proposed a method by which carrots will remain fresh all winter.
The best way to store carrots
Sand will help protect root crops from adverse conditions.
Take a wooden container, pour some of the above-mentioned bulk material into it and distribute it evenly along the bottom.
It is desirable that a layer of at least two centimeters thick is formed.
Next, you need to put the carrots on the sand. You need to make sure that each vegetable lies separately: there should be at least a minimum distance between the root vegetables.
The laid out carrots must be covered with another portion of loose rock.
If the dimensions of the box you are using allow, you can make several “sand-carrot” layers.
With this method of storage, orange root vegetables will easily last until the beginning of the next summer cottage season. True, in January the sand poured in the fall will have to be replaced with "new" sand.
