It's mid-November. The summer cottage season is almost over.
But it is too early for gardeners to relax. The fact is that the last weeks of autumn are ideal for ridding fruit trees of moss and lichen.
Yes, these two life forms can hardly be called parasites. And yet they cause direct and indirect harm to woody plants.
The thing is that these "coverings" do not allow the bark to "breathe" properly. In addition, pests often appear in lichens and mosses.
And don't forget that the appearance of fruit trees is spoiled.
But how to clean the trunks and branches of woody plants? The expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh named a remedy that will certainly provide an ideal result.
What product are we talking about?
Ferrous sulfate works great against mosses and lichens.
One tablespoon of this product is enough for 0.3 liters of clean water.
The resulting solution should be used to treat those parts of the tree on which moss and lichen have appeared.
There is nothing else to do: in a few days the trunk will become “clean” again.
