Decorate your garden plot? Easy! Or maybe liven up your local area? Definitely yes! And how about adding some color? Lush, bright, multi-colored peonies will handle these and many other tasks.

Therefore, today the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh offers to understand the secrets of planting these perennials.

It is believed that it is preferable to plant peonies in the fall - 25-40 days before the onset of frost.

In autumn, peonies take root better, and therefore, they will cope more successfully with cold, heat and drought. Thus, we can confidently say that the flower's resistance to weather influences increases.

Moreover, the plant acquires many small adventitious roots, which only help it to gain a foothold in the soil.

Finally, a rested plant has a sufficient amount of nutrients in its rhizome, which, like all of the above, indicates good survival of peonies during autumn planting.

If for some reason you decide to postpone the procedure until spring, start implementing your plans as early as possible – as soon as the soil thaws.

In summer, only those peonies that have a closed root system, or simply put, in pots, are allowed to be replanted. Make sure that the soil lump on the rhizome remains intact.
